For the first time, the fans voted on the Top New Artists’ awards this year. When Julianne was voted as the Top New Female Vocalist, then she had to compete against the Top New Male Vocalist, Jake Owen, and the Top New Duo, the Zack Brown Band, for the ultimate award of Top New Artist.
When Julianne won, she was elated and her boyfriend and fellow dance partner Chuck Wicks was there with tears in his eyes, celebrating along with her. As she finally got to the stage to give her speech, she said, “It’s a good thing my dress ripped – now I have something else to think about!”
