Angelina Jolie was top earning actress in the past year of Tinseltown. She earned $27 million in the past year. Her nearest competitor - Jennifer Aniston, who was close behind with $25 million. Jolie's take included pay for the action film "Wanted" and income received upfront to star in the coming spy thriller "Salt," filmed on Long Island.
Aniston earned a healthy sum from the comedy "Marley & Me," which took in $244 million at the box office. There was also salary from her upcoming film, "The Baster" and residuals from the TV series "Friends."
Multiple Oscar winner Meryl Streep is in the third position of ranking with $24 million, mostly from her role in the musical "Mamma Mia!" Sarah Jessica Parker and Cameron Diaz rounded out the top 5. At the bottom of the 15-woman list: Kate Winslet, with $2 million, including pay for her Oscar-winning turn in the Holocaust drama "The Reader.
The earnings, revealed in a report Thursday from Forbes.com, included salary and profit-sharing, and were for a one-year period beginning in June 2008
