American Idol contestant Alexis Cohen Killed by car accident

Alexis Cohen, a Former of American Idol, was killed by a hit-and-run car accident in New Jersey.Alexis Cohen was known as "Glitter Girl" in American Idol.Cohen, 25, was struck early Saturday morning in Seaside Heights.Two passersby allegedly saw Alexis Cohen's lifeless body lying in the street and called the authorities.

Alexis Cohen's colorful behavior in early episodes of Idol's seventh and eighth seasons, including repeated rude gestures directed at the judges, made her a memorable presence.

The death of Alexis Cohen is certainly not the first tragedy to befall American Idol.

Season 7 American Idol winner David Cook's brother succumbed to brain cancer in May of this year. According to People, Adam Cook had been battling the disease for more than 10 years. Fortunately, Adam Cook got to see his brother perform on the American Idol stage before he passed away. People notes that the judges believe that Adam Cook's presence provided David with the inspiration to win the competition.
